Behind the Scenes - The Aerie

The main chamber of Janos' Retreat contains some interesting details that are not easily visible in the cinematic which takes place there. One wall has basins full of blood, and the other has a portrait of a mysterious old man.

The mountain passes leading to the area are full of tiny "aerie outposts" which feature the same architecture as the main Aerie/Retreat. Some or all of these areas may have at one point been intended as part of the playable section of the game, as they will support Raziel should he land on them (which is not true of pieces of background scenery in general in Soul Reaver 2).

These areas can be explored using the cheat device flight code in the PS2 version of the game (see Codes (Playstation 2 Cheat Device)) or the hacked savegames at the end of this article in the PC version. For other area exploration savegames, please see Savegames (PC).
