The Final Battle with Kain

Having defeated both The Priestess and Turel, Raziel's next task would have been to destroy Kain.

After their battle in the Chronoplast, Kain would have fled to The Mountain Retreat, accessed using the smokestack in The Turelim Clan Territory. In this remote outpost, the two would fight one last time, with Raziel using the Reaver imbued with Ariel's soul (see The Death of Ariel) to strike down his maker.

Victorious, Raziel would have proceeded to consume Kain's soul with the Reaver, apparently granting him The Amplified Reaver - the ultimate weapon in the game, and one which would have been necessary to complete the final chapter (see Opening the Sounding Pipes).

One of the Chronoplast FMVs depicts Kain and Raziel facing each other in what appears to be the Mountain Retreat - a room with Kain's clan symbol emblazoned on the floor. However, in this cinematic Raziel has the normal version of the Soul Reaver. The meaning of this is uncertain; some have theorized that it was at this time that Kain would taunt Raziel regarding Ariel, who would somehow appear in order to be consumed.

This deleted face-off between the two main characters reappeared in Defiance.
