Amplified Force Projectile

article by Ben Lincoln

Raziel's telekinetic Force Projectile ability was originally intended to be enhanced once he consumed the soul of his brother Turel.

The Amplified version is describe in issue 19 of PSM:

The projectile now pushes enemies further, and the impact reduces them to a stunned/damaged state. More substantial objects can be pushed or broken with the amplified force projectile.

Prototype versions of Soul Reaver from early 1999 feature a separate "Amplified Force Projectile" ability in the debug menu, but it has only limited usefulness (knocking open a few large doors), and no special visual effect to differentiate it from the regular ability. This video of the Possession ability includes a demonstration of the Amplified Force Projectile near the end. This walkthrough of Turel's territory includes a few uses of the ability as well.

There is an alternate Force Projectile embedded in the PC release version of the game which is actually less substantial-looking. It is possible that the ability Raziel obtains in the retail release of the game actually uses the Amplified Force Projectile visual effect.

The Amplified Force Projectile (along with Turel himself) was resurrected in Defiance as the Enhanced TK ability for Raziel.
