The Bone Sword

article by Ben Lincoln

According to a page on the Silicon Knights website, a weapon called the Bone Sword was planned for Blood Omen, but not included. It seems safe to assume that it would have been related to the Bone Armour in some way, although no information has been released on its specific in-game characteristics.

Part of the sword survives in the final version of the game. In the introductory FMV, Vorador is wielding a "hybrid" weapon made from the hilt of the Bone Sword and a shorter version of the Soul Reaver's blade.

Forum member Master L pointed out that the concept art around the edge of the map included with the PC version of Blood Omen depict Vorador with a straight-bladed sword. Perhaps this is the Bone Sword in its entirety.

No in-game screenshots of the Bone Sword are known to exist. It is unclear if it ever advanced beyond the concept phase.

An early version of this article referred to Vorador's weapon as the "Bone Reaver" (Bone Sword + Soul Reaver). While that name is less unwieldy than "Vorador's Hybrid Weapon", it is also inaccurate.
