Doll Reaver - Legacy of Turelzevir
content by Divine Shadow, article by Ben Lincoln
Kain thought, for a second, he saw something in the grey blur beyond the window. A shadow, maybe?
And again, another one, and another one, dark shadows were coming from the sea's horizon. A ship? No, ships. Many many ships.
It took only a few seconds for them to become fully visible. Twenty Imperial Sarafan Destroyers, and in the middle of them the massive metal floating citadel that was the Super Sarafan Destroyer.
Lowering his mouth to the speaking tube beneath the window, the vampire lord made his announcement.
"Battle Stations."
- Doll Reaver: Legacy of Turelzevir
In 2003, the same year that Willow Ayala and I created the Three Legacy of Kain Titles Announced for 2003 April Fools joke, Divine Shadow was hard at work constructing his own, vastly more elaborate work. The result was a multimedia extravaganza gathered under the banner Doll Reaver: Legacy of Turelzevir.
Legacy of Turelzevir had at is core a relatively straightforward concept: mix together the Legacy of Kain series (minus Defiance, which had not yet been released) Star Wars (with its serial numbers barely filed off), Mr. T, and some forum in-jokes of the era (Betty the Vampire[1], Frank the Sluagh, et cetera), then turn it into a new entry in the franchise. But to say that Divine Shadow took this idea and ran with it would be an understatement. The awe-inspiring breadth of material he created could only result from having run with the concept until his shoes, feet, and legs were all worn away. Yet still he crawled implacably forward, not feeling pity or remorse, and absolutely did not stop - ever - until his mission was complete.
This page contains the visual artwork and trailer videos which he included on a very limited-edition CD.
As a special bonus, the entire original Doll Reaver: Legacy of Turelzevir website is now available again, hosted here at The Lost Worlds.
Please note that the website has not been modified in any way, including its low-resolution trailer videos. The high-resolution versions (previously unreleased to the public) are available near the bottom of this article. The third (Flash) trailer is only present in the preserved website - no higher-resolution version exists.
